what was left

What was left?
What was left?
He had said it all
-- said it all -- said it all
Yet all was left

If a bird had words
traded note for vowel
it would debate and
hate and fight -- not sing
It would tell us and
shell us us with this one thing:
God has a right and a left
wing.

Yes, God has wings, feathers
and sings.

And we would laugh
what a ridiculous thing.

What was left?
What was left?
No -- what was right
is what's on his chest.

Get it off!
Get it off!

But it's stuck -- not
on his chest but
in his throat
Not in his throat
but with words he wrote.

Or failed to write
or did not say
or failed to right
words on play

What was right?
What was right?
All that's left --
and left to write.
